Project Managers all benefit from simple and less time
consuming methods to give stakeholders and team members visibility into a
project plan. SharePoint 2013 paired with Microsoft Project Professional provides
a quick and sustainable method for achieving this goal. Let’s begin with the
project plan.
Create a project plan
in Microsoft Project
Create and save a plan using Microsoft Project Professional
2013. An example plan is show below.

Sync the plan with a SharePoint
2013 task list
First, to sync the plan go to the File Menu and select
share. Second, on the next prompt select Sync with SharePoint. Third, determine
your “Sync with” selection and select Existing SharePoint Site from the menu.
The default setting is to sync with a New SharePoint Site.

When you select “Existing SharePoint Site” notice the form
changes. Provide the site address (quick tip, copy and paste from your browser)
and “Verify” the Site. Once the site is verified, the Tasks List available for
sync will be visible as well as the ability to sync through the now visible
“Save” button. Select “Tasks” and “Save.”

“Save” begins the sync process.

The plan is now displayed within the task list.

Update & resync a
plan
As things really are, plans do change. To update the plan,
return to your project file and make the desired updates. In the example below
“Go Live” was changed from one day to five days resulting in a scheduling
update for “Post Go Live Support.”

Return to the project file menu and select “Save.”

The plan is updated with the changes.

This is one of several methods for leveraging Microsoft
Project and SharePoint. Look for future blog posts with Project Management
quick tips.
